Licenses

 

We are continuing to develop the open source hardware licensing model for MakerPlane and will most likely use something similar to the Arduino open source license for MakerPlane specific content under GPL or LGPL and license the use of the MakerPlane logo and brand for commercial organizations.  This will allow us to continue to provide support to the community and come up with new designs, tooling and processes for the benefit of open source aviation.    Cern have suggested two good candidates for open design which are the TAPR Open Hardware License and the CERN Open Hardware License.

When a project is started in The Hangar Workshop, it is the responsibility of the Project Leader to choose the appropriate license.
