We want to let our US customers know about an important change that is unfortunately affecting our ability to ship orders across the border.
Recently, the United States has changed the rules around what’s called the de minimis duty level. This is the threshold that lets small packages from outside the US come in without extra taxes or duties which was set for $800 and is now $0.
Under the new rules, any postal package sent from Canada to the US now faces a blanket 35% duty charge. This duty must be collected before the package can even be delivered.
What this means in practice:
- If we ship you a package, US Customs will add an extra 35% duty on top of the product price and shipping.
- This charge isn’t small, and unfortunately it makes it too expensive for many of our customers and we cannot aborb this cost as our margins are typically tiny and not enough to cover costs as it is.
- Because of this, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to pause all US shipping for now until a fairer solution can be worked out.
We know this is disappointing for our US supporters. Please understand that this decision isn’t about us wanting to restrict access, it’s about avoiding unexpected, high costs being pushed onto you.
