Hi everyone,
I'm using the MakerPlane 5" touchscreen with a Raspberry Pi 4. The display is connected via HDMI for video output and uses **SPI over GPIO** for touch functionality. The driver in use is the GoodTFT `LCD5-show` (specifically `LCD5-show/LCD5_5inch_HDMI`).
When I connect the display **directly to the Pi’s GPIO header**, everything works fine – including touch.
However, after installing the Pi into an **Argon One V2 case** (which includes an internal HDMI rerouting and a GPIO breakout), the **touch input no longer works**. HDMI output still works as expected.
### What I’ve verified so far:
* SPI is correctly enabled in `/boot/config.txt` (`dtparam=spi=on`)
* I removed `dtoverlay=goodix` (since this touchscreen uses SPI, not I²C)
* No touchscreen input device appears under `/dev/input/eventX`
* `dmesg` shows **no errors** related to SPI or touch after removing `goodix`
* **Touch input works again immediately** when I connect the display directly to the Pi without the Argon case
* 3.3 V and 5 V are present and stable on the GPIO header
* I am using GPIO 13 for fan control and GPIO 4 for the Argon power button → no known SPI conflicts
### Suspected cause:
The **Argon One V2 GPIO extension** may not pass through all necessary SPI pins for touch functionality:
* GPIO 19 (MOSI)
* GPIO 21 (MISO)
* GPIO 23 (SCLK)
* GPIO 26 (CS)
* GPIO 22 (IRQ)
### Question:
Has anyone encountered this issue when using SPI-based touchscreen displays with the Argon One V2 case?
Are all GPIO pins truly passed through on the Argon header, or is a custom wiring solution needed to restore SPI touch functionality?
Thanks in advance!
Daniel
Touch not working after installing into Argon One V2 case (SPI touchscreen)

Re: Touch not working after installing into Argon One V2 case (SPI touchscreen)
Did you get things sorted out Daniel?
I'm not familiar with the Argon One V2 case (would be surprised if all 40 pins are not pass through)...but I do use I2C on my Pi 5B for the Makerplane touch screen display.
I did have some initial config issues with the display so I ended up just using the 9 pins indicated on the back of the display and the default goodix dtoverlay. I'm only using SPI for a Waveshare CAN hat (SPI0 only as SPI1 conflicts with my Audio DAC Shim).
So far everything is working ok.
