3D Model for 5" display?
Is there a 3D model for the 5" display available? Solidworks preferably, but IGES, STEP, Parasolid, something useful otherwise?
I'd like to look at designing a better 3D printed case, and that would be easier if I had access to a model for the display.

No 3D model is available for the screen at the moment. If I get some time over the weekend I will try to put something together. Otherwise if someone else has a screen and has some time to take some measurements and model something up, that would be awesome.

@John I have a 3D model of the screen now, with the Pi4. I've got to add an HDMI connector (can't find an off-the-shelf solid model of a PCB-mounted HDMI plug so i'll have to make one) and then it'll be complete enough for further modelling.
When i've got the HDMI in i'll try posting an assembly here.

Attached is a Solidworks assembly with the Makerplane 5" screen, and the HDMI adapter for the Pi4. I have a model with the Pi4 in it as well but i'm not sure if it can upload... The total ZIP size is 17M.

And for more flexibility for those who may not be up-to-date with Solidworks, here are STEP files for the Screen assembly, and for the Pi4 HDMI adapter. If you build your own model, use width mates on the two plugs on the HDMI adapter to get the two boards aligned in two of the axes. Then use a width mate on the black header connector to get the third axis aligned. If you do that, it will align just as my Pi4 aligns with the screen.
The standoffs that come with the screen are about 0.5mm too short, and the one hole that looks "close" doesn't align, with the hole on the Pi4. You can push it to fit, but if you tighten the nut you will be straining the HDMI connectors on the two PCB's and on the HDMI adapter.

Awesome! Thanks for doing that. Much appreciated! Can I upload to the Thingiverse case page?

Also, thanks for pointing out the mounting pin difference. I will work on that as well. I have not updated the case since the first prototype.

Re: 3D Model for 5" display?
Here's the status of my first cut at a case. Will sit with the screen just ahead of the panel, and the Pi behind. When I have it worked out I can post models for Thingiverse/Github/etc.
I haven't made any provision for buttons yet. I'd like to do that, there is room on the lower bezel to put buttons and knobs. I'll have to find something small, but I could make that side a *little* wider if needed. I'd like to keep it as compact as possible though. This case is 5-3/8" x 3-3/4", and the portion in front of the panel will be 7/16" thick.

Very nice! Like it a lot.
You could also potentially just mount buttons and rotary encoders in their own separate bezel anywhere on the panel. I have done this as well on another prototype I built. Sorry for the low light, it was taken from a video capture.
