Sunlight Readable Display
Does anyone have a problem on changing brightness of MakerPlane's Sunlight Readable Display? I can't change brightness with RPI4 while John can.
Here are my commands. The display has the same brightness during the last 3 commands.
sudo apt-get install -y wiringpi
gpio -g pwm 18 1024
gpio -g mode 18 pwm
gpio pwmc 1000
gpio -g pwm 18 0 # brightest
gpio -g pwm 18 1024 # darkest
gpio -g pwm 18 1000
Here are my commands. The display has the same brightness during the last 3 commands.
sudo apt-get install -y wiringpi
gpio -g pwm 18 1024
gpio -g mode 18 pwm
gpio pwmc 1000
gpio -g pwm 18 0 # brightest
gpio -g pwm 18 1024 # darkest
gpio -g pwm 18 1000

Re: Sunlight Readable Display
Hi Caz,
EDIT: NOTE I HAVE UPDATED THE PI 4 SETTINGS BELOW TO REFLECT AN UPDATED CONFIG FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
I just want to make sure that you also installed the package first with the instructions in the box. If you use sudo apt-get it should work but I am not sure that it needs the dependencies it might find. The manufacturer sent these instructions to me and appears to work. dpkg installs the deb package only.
cd /tmp
wget https://project-downloads.drogon.net/wi ... latest.deb
sudo dpkg -i -B wiringpi-latest.deb
The backlight brightness can be controlled using the following commands on raspberry PI 4B:
gpio -g mode 18 pwm
gpio pwmc 4095
gpio -g pwm 18 X
where X is the brightness required 0= brightest, 400=darkest.
Let me know how you go.
John

Re: Sunlight Readable Display
Disregard my post about brightness. Before running gpio command, I did something such as enabling serial port. Brightness changes with minimum configuration.

Re: Sunlight Readable Display
Hi,
This line will set GPIO 18 to be used as the PWM to change the brightness. Do you have anything else running that will grab that GPIO pin? Have you tried with the baseline image?

Re: Sunlight Readable Display
the information I got for pinout: physical 12 is GPIO18
There is nothing else running on the Pi3 as I know
Have you tried with the baseline image? sorry, but I did not understand, what you mean

Re: Sunlight Readable Display
The screen ships with an SD card that has Raspian OS on it. Did you try with that?
