Interesting. They have open source firmware available for one of their systems:

Has anyone explored the MGL route?
I saw their open source page.
I am interested in their RDAC device to drive a Pi based engine monitor.
Does the Makerplane project support engine monitoring?

I'm using the MGL RDAC in the Pitts. I've built a CAN/CAN converter that converts the RDAC protocol to CAN-FiX. It also takes care of the scaling. The RDAC reports raw values and the scaling has to happen elsewhere. I'm not flying yet so I can't report on how well it works but the testing that I've done so far is promising.

I'm using a custom 4.3" LCD interface for my engine monitor but PyEfis definitely has engine instruments in it. It would be pretty easy to add a plugin to FiX-Gateway for the RDAC CAN or Serial protocols as well. (Basically do in software what I'm doing in hardware) Their protocols are pretty well documented and easy to decode. That would get the data into PyEfis and PyEfis runs well on RasPis.

I've written a CAN plugin for the MGL RDAC. It can receive data from an RDAC and send data impersonating an RDAC.
Might be buggy or not always do the right thing, no real world testing yet.

I will make a pull request to get this included soon.
